Well we are in San Francisco for a real change of mood. Away from the brilliant blue skies of Northern California and into the cold cloudy hills of San Fran. A taxi driver (originally from Houston) told us that the coldest winter he had ever experienced was a San Francisco summer.
Three days ago we worked our way down from Mendocino. It was a great drive down. First we happened upon the Navarro vineyard south of Mendocino. Lucy had already sampled the product the nights before so we made an impromptu visit.
On we went to Boonville which I would thoroughly recommend for a coffee and cake stop. A final stop in a mall in Petaluma before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into SF.
Another airbnb and another good choice although probably the least good of the three. Lots of space and lots of toys to play with but not the best are for shops etc.
Tuesday we went up to the California Academy of Sciences in the morning which was another good museum and then made a late decision to go to the baseball in the evening. It was great – we had fab seats and the giants actually won.
Yesterday we headed out late to the front and tried out the exploratorium which is a warehouse full of interactive experiments. It was huge and we didn’t leave enough time to even scratch the surface but it was still good. After that we headed out on a trip to Alcatraz. The boys loved this and loved the audio tour that went with it. I think it excited and scared them in equal measures
It was then on the famous SF trolley bus back to a posh pizza restaurant that Lucy found
